Tulong Gulong 27


“Tulong Gulong” is MediCard Foundation’s quarterly donation of wheelchairs and other assistive devices to deserving indigent beneficiaries. For its 27th gift-giving activity for this quarter, MFI has donated 13 adult wheelchairs, 1 pediatric wheelchair, 2 canes with chair, 2 walkers and 2 pairs of crutches to 20 deserving individuals. The handover ceremony was held last December 12, 2018 at the MediCard Lifestyle Center in Makati City as part of MediCard’s Christmas outreach projects.


The ceremony was witnessed by more than 130 attendees from sponsoring departments of MediCard Philippines, Merry Carolers, and relatives of the beneficiaries. The program was hosted by Ms. Rachel de Vera of Marketing Department and Ms. Elsa Caviteño of Onsite Clinic Management Department with special dance number from the employees of Provider Relations Department. 16 deserving indigent beneficiaries were screened and duly endorsed by the Create a Job for the Disabled Association, Inc. (CJDAI) represented by its president Mr. Armando Alimagno and secretary Ms. Fe Baylon. The remaining four beneficiaries were endorsed by their concerned relatives.

3. Alex Real, 66, from San Mateo, Rizal (orthopedic case)

4. Hermie Opiano, 55, from Paranaque City (orthopedic case)

5. Isabel Sicat, 66, from Payatas B, Quezon City (polio)

6. Bernardo Nunez, 82, from Paco, Manila (left foot amputee)

7. Isabel Acol, 74, from Pandacan, Manila (stroke)

8. Esperanza Mallari, 92, from Paco, Manila (old age)

9. Nanette Sosing, 41, from Sta. Ana, Manila (polio)

10. Ramon Deogracias, 76, from Pandacan, Manila (arthritis)

11. Gereno Guareno, 82, from Paco, Manila (weak heart)

12. Leonardo Cunanan, 71, from Pandacan, Manila (bone fracture)

13. Arlene dela Rosa, 41, from Pandacan, Manila (polio)

14. Kenneth Aldrin Cruz, 29, from Sta. Ana, Manila (polio)

15. Marjorie Bola, 26, from Paco, Manila (accident victim)

16. Marlon Lorca, 42, from Paco, Manila (accident victim)

17. Michael Ranada, 23, from Rodriguez, Rizal (cerebral palsy)

18. Donalita Casag, 86, from Taguig City (old age)

19. Juanita Alcantara, 91, from Caloocan City (mild stroke)

20. Crisanta Dineros, 86, from Manila (hip fracture)

 

 
RELIEF OPERATION IN CAMSUR


Over 30 boxes weighing more than 500 kilos of pre-loved clothes, beddings, footwear, medicines, toiletries, canned goods and other food items were distributed last January 11 to 13, 2019 to the different barangays of Baao and Balatan in Camarines Sur by MediCard Foundation thru the assistance of Ms. Nancy Villareal and her Family, the Bricia Family and the Barangay Captains to those who were affected by tropical depression Usman. 120 pairs of pail and dipper with laundry soap were also distributed to the different barangays.


Special thanks to Brgy. Capt. Monina Balilla of San Roque in Baao, to Brgy. Capt. Orestes Rasonable of San Francisco in Baao, to Vice Mayor Jimmy Villareal of Brgy. Duran in Balatan, and to Ms. Mia Rigoroso of Brgy. San Miguel in Iriga City for the assistance in the orderly distribution of donations.

 
THE GREAT RIZAL RUN


The Rizal Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross held its first ever “Great Rizal Run last July 15, 2018 at the ULTRA-Philippine Sports Complex in Pasig City. This was one of their activities for the National Disaster Consciousness Month of July. Amidst heavy rains, the MediCard Foundation Team still proceeded joining thousands of participants from the different branches of Rizal Chapter. The MFI Team is led by Volts Victoria together with Bryan Vergara, Manny Elip, Rose Gacad, Saldy Gacad, Girlie Sanchez, Buboy dela Pena, Brigette Nombila, Ronnel Avancena, Roderico Chua, Jenelyn Lorica, Pamela Fresco, Marizon Sanchez, Edwin Sanchez and Ronald Sanchez.

 
LCF CSR EXHIBIT 2018


MediCard Foundation, led by its president Mr. Luis Montoya and executive director Mr. Voltaire Victoria, actively participated at this year’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) EXHIBIT organized and staged by the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF). This year’s theme is “Innov8 for a Better World.” The two-day booth exhibit was held last July 23 and 24, 2018 at Glorietta 3 Activity Center in Makati City and participated in by 27 corporate foundations. MFI distributed freebies and at the same time promoted wellness by requesting participants and mall-goers to share how they maintain healthy lifestyle.
